CVE-2026-8596Network attack vector

Inference-container code execution via exposed HMAC key

Published May 14, 2026 · Updated May 14, 2026

Cleartext key storage in Amazon SageMaker Python SDK allows remote authenticated users to execute code in inference containers. The ModelBuilder/Serve path places the generated HMAC key in SAGEMAKER_SERVE_SECRET_KEY, and SageMaker DescribeModel, DescribeEndpointConfig, and DescribeModelPackage responses return it in plaintext. Exploitation requires permission to call one of those describe APIs and write access to the model artifact path; a forged signature then permits a crafted artifact to run with the SageMaker execution role.
