Privilege escalation via unchecked XQuery evaluation
Published Oct 12, 2026 · Updated Oct 12, 2026
Privilege escalation in Progress MarkLogic Server allows remote authenticated users to execute elevated code via XQuery evaluation. The xdmp:eval-in function accepts attacker-supplied evaluation requests without enforcing the additional required evaluation privilege. Affected releases are MarkLogic Server 11 before 11.3.7 and MarkLogic Server 12 before 12.1.0, and exploitation requires query-execution access.
