Authenticated file read and code execution via Imagick
Published Sep 25, 2026 · Updated Sep 25, 2026
Improper input validation in Piwigo 16.3.0 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to read local files through image uploads. Image upload handling passes files whose extensions disguise SVG content to Imagick, which interprets embedded local-file references and MSL instructions. Exploitation requires authenticated upload privileges and Imagick; file writes and code execution additionally depend on enabled MSL and server configuration.
