SSRF via IPv6-transition wrapper validation bypass
Published Sep 22, 2026 · Updated Sep 22, 2026
SSRF in LightRAG before 1.5.5 allows attackers to fetch internal resources through crafted image URLs in uploaded documents. _validated_addresses checks the IPv6 literal with ipaddress.is_global without consistently evaluating the embedded IPv4 address, so _download accepts transition wrappers around loopback, private, or metadata targets. Exploitation requires document-upload access and compatible NAT64 or DNS64 routing; the fetched response body is ingested into LightRAG.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
