Sandbox escape via crafted video file
Published May 14, 2026 · Updated May 14, 2026
Integer overflow in Google Chrome Codecs before 148.0.7778.168 on Windows allows remote attackers to escape the sandbox via a crafted video file. Google identifies the affected locus only as Codecs and keeps the Chromium issue restricted, so the precise overflowing arithmetic and resulting memory operation are undisclosed. Exploitation requires user interaction with attacker-controlled video content, and the published impact extends beyond the renderer sandbox.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
