Cross-tenant authorization bypass via ACL wildcard injection
Published Sep 23, 2026 · Updated Sep 23, 2026
Authorization bypass in Moquette 0.18.0 and earlier allows remote attackers to read and write cross-tenant MQTT topics via crafted identities. AuthorizationsCollector.canDoOperation substitutes unescaped client IDs or usernames into %c or %u ACL rules and evaluates the result as a topic filter. Pattern-based ACLs must be configured; + broadens topic access, while # can also interrupt session processing through a Topic.match null-pointer exception.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
