Authenticated shortcode execution through encoded biography input
Published Sep 19, 2026 · Updated Sep 19, 2026
Code injection in ProfilePress 4.17.2 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary shortcodes through a profile biography. The frontend profile builder decodes an entity-encoded opening bracket in the eup_bio field and passes the resulting biography to do_shortcode without rejecting user-supplied shortcode syntax. Subscriber-level access and a reachable frontend profile-edit form are required; installed shortcodes determine the resulting data-read or data-write impact.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
