Stored XSS via unscanned modular-page Twig

Published Sep 4, 2026 · Updated Sep 4, 2026

Stored XSS in Grav 2.0.0 through 2.0.17 allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript in visitors' browsers via modular pages. The save-time Security::detectXssInEditorContent guard omits the modular-page branch even though the render path processes modular body content as Twig, allowing concatenated markup to evade literal-source checks. Page-edit rights are required, and execution occurs when a theme renders the malicious module through its parent page, including during administrator sessions.
