Service interruption via recursive nested-field skipping
Published Oct 2, 2026 · Updated Oct 2, 2026
Uncontrolled recursion in Apache Thrift Dart and Java Micro Edition bindings before 0.25.0 allows remote attackers to crash applications via nested protocol fields. The Java Micro Edition TProtocolUtil.skip depth guard used an effectively unlimited starting value; Dart's skip used a separate depth budget instead of the protocol's existing count. Exploitation requires an application using either binding to process attacker-supplied Thrift messages, and the reported consequence is service interruption.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
