Thread termination via unchecked timestamp conversion
Published Oct 13, 2026 · Updated Oct 13, 2026
Unchecked exceptions in Auth0 java-jwt 4.0.0 through 4.6.1 allow remote attackers to terminate threads via JWT timestamps. PayloadDeserializer.getInstantFromSeconds checks that exp, nbf, and iat fit in a long but converts them to Instant without containing an out-of-range DateTimeException, before signature verification. Exposure requires an application to parse externally supplied JWTs without containing that exception; repeated thread termination degrades service availability rather than granting access to data.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
