Remote command execution via shell-interpreted SAY_MOOS text
Published Sep 3, 2026 · Updated Sep 4, 2026
Command injection in MOOS-IvP iSay 24.8.1 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute commands through crafted SAY_MOOS messages. Sayer::sayUtterance builds a shell command from verbatim utterance text and passes it to system(), so quote-closing or command-substitution syntax is interpreted by the shell. Any unauthenticated client able to reach MOOSDB can execute commands with the iSay process user's privileges.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
