Mail-delivery manipulation via unfiltered MIME headers
Published Oct 19, 2026 · Updated Oct 19, 2026
Header injection in Apache Camel Mail allows remote attackers to influence outgoing mail delivery through crafted MIME headers. MimeMultipartDataFormat uses a generic header filter that copies mail.smtp and mail.smtps headers onto the Exchange during headersInline unmarshalling instead of rejecting those namespaces. Exploitation requires attacker-controlled input to reach this non-default parsing path and a downstream mail producer that consumes the injected settings; the documented consequence is control over connection and sending behavior.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
