Email content spoofing via unescaped discussion titles
Published Sep 18, 2026 · Updated Sep 18, 2026
Stored CSS injection in Open edX Platform Redwood through Verawood.1 allows remote authenticated users to spoof digest email content. get_notification_content inserts raw post_title values into notification.content, which digest_content.html renders with the safe filter. An enrolled student must create a crafted discussion title, and the effect occurs only when another learner opens a digest or batched email in a CSS-rendering client.
