Persistent denial of service via malformed template definitions
Published Sep 3, 2026 · Updated Sep 3, 2026
Improper input validation in MISP 2.5.45 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to interrupt event-template functions persistently. EventTemplate::beforeValidate() skips validateDefinition() for pre-encoded strings, while afterFind() decodes the stored value without handling malformed JSON. Saving templates requires template-management permission, but one malformed row makes authenticated event-template queries return HTTP 500 errors until the row is repaired.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
