CVE-2026-85234Network attack vectorHinoki check available

Unauthenticated daemon crash via invalid remap offsets

Published Sep 15, 2026 · Updated Sep 15, 2026

Memory corruption in tftp-hpa on Red Hat Enterprise Linux allows remote attackers to crash in.tftpd with a crafted TFTP request. The remap engine passes invalid match offsets to genmatchstring when an inverse rule aborts with a non-empty custom error, causing out-of-bounds reads and writes. Exposure requires in.tftpd to use that rule combination; successful exploitation terminates the daemon and interrupts TFTP service.
