Unauthenticated file write and deletion via path traversal

Published Sep 3, 2026 · Updated Sep 3, 2026

Path traversal in Eclipse aeriOS Self-orchestrator before 1.2.1 allows remote attackers to write or delete files through its REST API. Create, update, and delete handlers incorporate user-controlled resource identifiers into JSON file paths without rejecting traversal separators. The API requires no authentication, and impact is bounded by the service account's filesystem permissions, although the affected container has elevated privileges.
