Process crash via unhandled stream-abort rejection
Published Sep 4, 2026 · Updated Sep 4, 2026
Denial of service in Node.js Undici 7.0.0 through 7.29.0 and 8.0.0 through 8.10.1 allows remote attackers to crash clients via abrupt disconnects. On an unclean WebSocketStream close, the socket-close handler calls abort() on a writer-locked writable and discards the rejecting promise, leaving a TypeError unhandled. An unauthenticated malicious or compromised WebSocket server can terminate a Node.js client after one abrupt TCP disconnect when the application uses WebSocketStream and holds its required writer.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=7.0.0 <7.29.1
