Authenticated KMS request forgery via CRLF injection

Published Sep 3, 2026 · Updated Sep 3, 2026

CRLF injection in MongoDB libmongocrypt before 1.20.2 allows remote authenticated users to forge Google Cloud KMS API requests. The GCP request builder interpolates attacker-controlled project, location, key-ring, or key-name strings without rejecting CRLF delimiters, letting injected HTTP syntax alter the authenticated request. Exploitation requires key-vault write access and a GCP KMS-configured authorized client to process the crafted key document, exposing KMS operations available to that client's cloud identity.
