Administrative REST access via reversible password storage
Published Sep 25, 2026 · Updated Sep 25, 2026
Credential exposure in IBM Guardium Data Protection 12.2 allows remote authenticated users to obtain an administrative REST access token. The product stores internal REST service-account passwords in a reversible plaintext-equivalent form, so access to a stored credential reveals the account password. Exploitation requires authenticated access to the stored credential; the recovered password grants administrative REST privileges.
