Stored XSS via unescaped srcset descriptor
Published Sep 16, 2026 · Updated Sep 16, 2026
Stored XSS in Optimole 4.2.3 through 4.2.11 allows remote attackers to inject script through a crafted srcset descriptor. The unauthenticated optimization endpoint accepts a user-controlled descriptor, stores it, and later inserts it into an image tag attribute without escaping quotes. Any visitor can trigger the stored script when the affected page renders, exposing the visitor's browser session to attacker-controlled code.
