Secret disclosure via administrator-controlled log format string
Published Sep 23, 2026 · Updated Sep 23, 2026
Format-string injection in Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform automation controller allows authenticated administrators to disclose secrets. The API 4XX logging setting passes an administrator-controlled Python format template a live user object, permitting attribute and item traversal into Django settings. System Administrator access is required; forwarding the resulting log message to an administrator-chosen aggregator exposes the Django secret key and database password, enabling credential decryption, session forgery, and direct database access.
