Session takeover via unsafe ANSI hyperlink conversion
Published Sep 23, 2026 · Updated Sep 23, 2026
Stored XSS in Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform automation controller allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript via job output. ANSI OSC 8 hyperlinks in job, command, project, or inventory output become HTML anchors without scheme filtering or href escaping. A low-privileged user or echoed external data must seed the output, and a higher-privileged user must view the page and click the link, enabling actions in that user's session.
