Deserialization in Jenkins 2.579 and earlier and LTS 2.568.2 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute code. XStream accepts PersistenceRoot implementations as nested values in submitted config.xml object graphs, allowing Stapler to route later requests through those objects to an improperly protected Script Console. Exploitation requires low-privileged authenticated access capable of submitting configuration XML; success runs code on the Jenkins controller.
