App termination via disk-image out-of-bounds read
Published Sep 14, 2026 · Updated Sep 14, 2026
Out-of-bounds read in Disk Images in Apple macOS before 15.8, 26.7, or 27 allows attackers to terminate an app via a crafted disk image. The Disk Images component reads beyond a buffer boundary because it does not adequately validate bounds while parsing disk-image data. Processing the attacker-controlled image is required, and the reported consequence is limited to termination of the processing app.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
