OS command injection in HTTP::Daemon before 6.17 allows remote attackers to execute commands through crafted send_file() filenames. HTTP::Daemon::ClientConn::send_file() passes a string filename to Perl's two-argument open(), which treats pipe and redirection prefixes as executable or writable modes. Exploitation requires an application to pass attacker-influenced input to send_file(); commands run as the daemon UID, while alternate prefixes expose command output or create or truncate files.
