Unauthenticated daemon crash via truncated SDNV

Published Sep 2, 2026 · Updated Sep 2, 2026

Out-of-bounds read in ION-DTN before 4.2.0 allows remote attackers to crash network-facing daemons with truncated SDNV values. The decodeSdnv loop in ici/library/platform.c advances its cursor while the continuation bit remains set without checking the input length, reading up to nine bytes beyond the datagram. The LTP UDP input service must be reachable; a two-byte packet reaches the decoder before authentication, with availability as the confirmed impact.
