Account takeover via unenforced recovery-token expiration
Published Sep 1, 2026 · Updated Sep 2, 2026
Insufficient recovery-token expiration in WWBN AVideo 29.0 and earlier allows remote attackers holding expired tokens to take over accounts. The password-save endpoint compares the supplied token only with the stored value and never calls the validator that decrypts it and enforces its 24-hour validity timestamp. Possession of a previously issued token is required; successful reuse sets an attacker-chosen password and grants the target account's access, including site administration for an administrator account.
