Managed-host code execution via spoofed callback identity
Published Sep 23, 2026 · Updated Sep 23, 2026
Privilege escalation in Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform allows remote attackers to execute code on managed hosts through provisioning callbacks. The job-template API and activity stream disclose host_config_key, while the callback trusts client-supplied X-Forwarded-For as host identity. Read-level view_jobtemplate access exposes the secret, and an empty gateway proxy allow-list lets the forged host match run the template with its credentials.
