Authenticated crash or disclosure via TLS buffer double-free
Published Oct 14, 2026 · Updated Oct 14, 2026
Double-free in OpenVPN TLS session handling allows remote authenticated users to crash the service or read memory via crafted packets. The incomplete check_session_buf_not_used() guard leaves output-buffer aliases referencing freed TLS storage during retiring-key cleanup. Affected releases are 2.6.0 through 2.6.22 and 2.7_alpha1 through 2.7.6; exploitation requires TLS session promotion or expiry.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
