Application crash via unchecked crop dimensions
Published Sep 18, 2026 · Updated Sep 18, 2026
Reachable assertion in Struktur AG libheif 1.19.0 through 1.23.2 allows remote attackers to crash an application via a crafted image. Box_clap::left_rounded() and top_rounded() pass an unchecked ispe dimension minus one into the int32_t-backed Fraction constructor, where assert() is used as input validation. Exploitation requires an application to process the crafted item through the tiling API with assertions enabled; the bounded consequence is process termination.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
