CVE-2026-84381Hinoki check available

Traffic interception via omitted WSS TLS upgrade

Published Sep 2, 2026 · Updated Sep 2, 2026

Cleartext transmission in Pydantic HTTPX2 2.6.0 through 2.9.1 allows attackers to read and modify WSS traffic via a SOCKS5 proxy. The synchronous and asynchronous SOCKS proxy paths in HTTPCore2 test only for https before upgrading to TLS, so wss streams reach HTTP/1.1 unencrypted. Attackers must control or observe the proxy path; they can obtain credentials and messages, alter frames, or impersonate the WebSocket server.
