Authenticated code execution via unchecked MCP directives
Published Oct 12, 2026 · Updated Oct 12, 2026
Directive injection in Nginx UI before 2.4.1 allows remote authenticated users to execute code via MCP configuration creation. The nginx_config_add tool writes attacker-supplied configuration and reloads Nginx without calling config.ValidateConfigFile, allowing blocked directives through. Affected versions start at 2.0.0-rc.6; exploitation requires a valid JWT or node-secret token, and code execution requires a loaded Perl, njs, or Lua module.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
