Persistent account takeover via unchecked factor enrollment
Published Oct 12, 2026 · Updated Oct 12, 2026
Authentication flaws in Nginx UI before 2.4.1 allow remote authenticated users to retain account access through factor enrollment. POST /api/otp_enroll and POST /api/finish_passkey_register bypass RequireSecureSession and accept attacker-controlled authentication factors without checking the current password. A stolen JWT suffices; TOTP enrollment requires TOTP to be disabled, while passkey enrollment has no existing-enrollment guard, enabling access that survives password changes and interferes with legitimate authentication.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
