CVE-2026-84290

Crash or disclosure via unchecked IOCTL pointers

Published Oct 8, 2026 · Updated Oct 8, 2026

IBM Guardium Data Protection 12.0, 12.1, 12.2 allows local users to crash Windows via WfpMonitor pointer-validation errors. Certain METHOD_NEITHER IOCTL handlers in the Windows S-TAP kernel driver dereference user-controlled pointers without adequate probing and exception handling. Exploitation requires privileged local access, and the supplied record limits the consequences to a system crash or limited kernel-memory reads.
