CVE-2026-84201Hinoki check available

Arbitrary file overwrite via unchecked path join

Published Sep 1, 2026 · Updated Sep 1, 2026

Path traversal in Appium MCP Server 0 through 0.1.61 allows attackers to overwrite arbitrary files via crafted file paths. The write_file and write_files_batch handlers combine caller-controlled absolute paths or parent-directory segments with PROJECT_ROOT without validation or normalization, then create directories and write supplied content. Invocation of either MCP tool is required, and writes carry the server user's privileges, exposing shell profiles and configuration files to overwrite.
