Remote code execution via unrestricted file upload
Published Sep 12, 2026 · Updated Sep 12, 2026
Arbitrary file upload in Maffay WP images upload on piclect 1.0 allows remote attackers to execute server-side code without authentication. The plugin's public image-upload handler accepts a client-supplied filename and file type without validation, then writes the file into a web-accessible directory. An Internet-reachable site with the plugin enabled exposes the upload path, and a server-executable payload runs with the web process's privileges.
