Sandbox escape via DOM Security use-after-free
Published Sep 1, 2026 · Updated Sep 2, 2026
Use-after-free in Mozilla Firefox and Thunderbird allows remote attackers to escape the content sandbox through crafted web content. Mozilla identifies the DOM Security component but has not disclosed the affected object or the lifetime error that leaves freed memory reachable. Exploitation requires user interaction with attacker-controlled web content; ordinary email reading in Thunderbird is not exposed because scripting is disabled.
