Taxonomy term modification via unchecked AJAX request
Published Sep 12, 2026 · Updated Sep 12, 2026
CSRF in PluginUs.Net BEAR before 1.2.2 allows remote attackers to modify arbitrary taxonomy terms through a logged-in privileged user’s browser. The taxonomy term update AJAX handler accepts state-changing requests without verifying a CSRF nonce or checking the user’s capabilities. Exploitation requires tricking a logged-in privileged user into opening a crafted page, after which product categories, tags, or other terms can be changed.
