Service interruption via oversized WebSocket frame allocation
Published Oct 2, 2026 · Updated Oct 2, 2026
Memory exhaustion in Apache Thrift Node.js and D WebSocket server transports before 0.25.0 allows remote attackers to interrupt service with short frames. Both transports allocate a buffer from the frame header's declared payload length before those payload bytes arrive. Exploitation requires a reachable WebSocket server; a small frame can consume substantial memory, and the Node.js connection remains open for repeated frames.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
