Unauthenticated service termination via WebSocket decompression bomb
Published Sep 22, 2026 · Updated Sep 22, 2026
CWE-409 in Netdata Agent before 2.11.0 allows remote attackers to terminate monitoring with compressed WebSocket frames. The unauthenticated server negotiates permessage-deflate before authentication, while websocket_client_decompress_message() grows output toward 200 MB without an expansion-ratio limit. Repeated concurrent connections can exhaust server memory, so exposure requires network access to the Agent's WebSocket listener.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
