SYSTEM command execution via interactive MSI repair
Published Sep 22, 2026 · Updated Sep 22, 2026
Privilege escalation in Netdata Agent 2.0.0 through 2.10.3 allows local users to execute arbitrary commands with SYSTEM privileges. During MSI repair, the installer launches powershell.exe and wevtutil.exe as elevated, interactive, unsandboxed processes in the initiating user's desktop session. Low-privileged access and the ability to trigger repair are sufficient to hijack a visible process window, compromising the Windows host.
