Authenticated code execution via pre-validation file write race
Published Oct 10, 2026 · Updated Oct 10, 2026
File upload in FolioVision FV Player 8.1.7 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to write executable files via video URLs. The check_mimetype() function saves remote content in public uploads before checking MIME type or extension, while new player creation lacks a capability check. Subscriber-level access suffices; code execution requires winning a race and an uploaded file that the server executes.
