CVE-2026-8336Network attack vector

Authenticated mongod crash via JavaScript use-after-free

Published May 13, 2026 · Updated May 13, 2026

Use-after-free in MongoDB Server 8.2 before 8.2.9 and 8.3 before 8.3.2 allows remote authenticated users to crash mongod. A specially sequenced $_internalJsEmit or mapreduce map call followed by server-side JavaScript triggers the flaw, but MongoDB has not disclosed the stale object's locus or invalid lifetime operation. Database authentication and the command sequence are required; successful exploitation terminates mongod and interrupts the database service.
