Unauthenticated APK staging via exposed control socket
Published Oct 5, 2026 · Updated Oct 5, 2026
Arbitrary APK download in ViewSonic vCast on ViewBoard devices allows remote attackers to stage an attacker-supplied APK over the local network. The unauthenticated TCP control socket accepts a downloadapk command with an arbitrary URL, then fetches the APK and opens Android's installer prompt. A shared-network attacker needs separate input injection or user confirmation to complete installation; this flaw alone does not silently execute the package.
