Shared-album metadata disclosure via viewer folder settings
Published Sep 18, 2026 · Updated Sep 18, 2026
Improper access control in Nextcloud Server before 32.0.0 allows remote authenticated users to view unshared file metadata through shared smart albums. The Photos app builds a filter-based smart album's file list using the viewer's photosSourceFolders setting instead of the album owner's setting. The album owner must first share that smart album with the user; the exposure concerns the owner's file names, IDs, and other metadata, not arbitrary users' files.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
