Local-file disclosure via unsafe SAX parser configuration
Published Aug 31, 2026 · Updated Aug 31, 2026
XML external entity injection in YaCy Search Server 1.941 and earlier allows remote attackers to disclose local files through crawled XML. The svgParser, mmParser, and opensearchdescriptionReader classes create SAX parsers without disabling DOCTYPE or external entity resolution. Exploitation requires the crawler to fetch an attacker-published SVG, FreeMind, or OpenSearch document; resolved file contents enter the searchable index.
