CVE-2026-8288Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Authenticated SMF crash via invalid NAS bitrate unit

Published May 11, 2026 · Updated May 11, 2026

Denial of service in the Open5GS SMF 2.7.0 through 2.7.7 allows remote authenticated users to crash the process with a crafted n1SmMsg. The QoS-flow-description handler passes an attacker-controlled NAS bitrate unit to ogs_nas_bitrate_to_uint64(), whose unknown-unit path invokes a fatal assertion. An existing SMF session reference is required, and exploitation terminates the SMF before an HTTP response, interrupting session management for served UEs.
