Privilege escalation via unrestricted IAM role lifecycle
Published Aug 31, 2026 · Updated Aug 31, 2026
Privilege escalation in Hulumi before 1.3.2 allows remote authenticated users to create persistent elevated IAM roles in a sandbox account. The weekly integration policy grants its documented principal role lifecycle actions on af-e2e-* roles without permission-boundary or trust restrictions. Possession of that principal is required, and the resulting roles retain higher privileges in the sandbox account.
