Authenticated SMF crash via non-full DNN
Published May 11, 2026 · Updated May 11, 2026
Denial of service in Open5GS 2.7.0 through 2.7.7 allows remote authenticated users to crash the SMF via a crafted context request. smf_nsmf_handle_create_sm_context accepts a non-full DNN and leaves sess->full_dnn null, while the H-SMF request builder later duplicates and asserts that pointer. The request must select home-routed V-SMF processing with hSmfUri; after PFCP establishment, the failed assertion terminates the SMF process.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
