Service interruption via malformed commit metadata parsing

Published Aug 31, 2026 · Updated Aug 31, 2026

XML parsing in GitList 2.0.0 allows remote attackers to interrupt repository views through crafted Git commit metadata. CommandLine.php wraps git-controlled subject and body fields in CDATA and passes the assembled text to SimpleXMLElement, so a CDATA terminator makes the generated XML malformed. Reachability requires attacker-controlled commit metadata in a configured repository; affected history requests fail without reported data disclosure or modification.
